Grandma Is Still Keeping Watch
About a month after my grandmother died a series of rather strange events occured. My aunt Darla came out of the restroom one night only to see who appeared to be my grandmother walking down the hallway into the kitchen. She followed her and went straight to the kitchen where, unbelievably, my grandmother was sitting, drinking coffee and smoking a cigarette as she always had before.
She told Darla not to worry she was watching over everyone but would have to leave for a few days and she would let us know when she had returned by way of a white feather. After she said this , she vanished.
Where she had been sitting lay a smoldering cigarette and a half full cup
of coffee. Darla hurried and called the family and we discussed it. A few days later my
brother and i were walking to the schol bus stop and saw a bird sitting on a tree (this
was a very cold time of year and normally there would have been no way this bird would
have been there.) My brother walked over
to it and it came closer to him. All day wherever we went the bird was with one of us. We
told our father of the occurance and he said "Yes, it must have been your
grandma."
The next day our family was gathered at another aunts house when the dove
that had been my grandmothers (now my brothers) somehow got out of its cage. We all
scrambled around to catch it and when I finally caught it, it scratched a cross on my hand
(coincidence? maybe) and I looked and quite a few feathers had fallen out. We picked them
up and there were 13 feathers
(another coincidence?) one for each of the children my grandmother had that were still
living!
