The Hanging Body
This summer I was a counsoler in training for a Christian camp in Tenessee. As part of our training, we had to go on a camping trip. It was suppossed to be 4 days, but had to be shortened after the experience we had.
We had been canoeing for a couple of hours to get to the spot where we were suppossed to stay. Once we got to our spot, some other people were there. We were all tired and didn't want to go far, so we chose to stay at another spot nearby, even though it was kinda run down and shady looking.
We had two tents, one for the guys and another for the girls. Before we went to bed, we started telling ghost stories. All the girls were afraid, so we had the two guys stay with us for the night. In the middle of the night, Chris, one of the guys who was in our tent, had to go to the bathroom. In trying to get out of the tent, he woke all of us up.
When he opened the tent, we saw the body of a young woman hanging from a tree. We were so scared we just closed the tent up and called the camp director to come pick us up in his speedboat. We sat inside the tent crying and when he finally got to our site, the body was gone. We told him about this and out of curiousity, he looked into a ghost book written about our region. Turns out in the 50's, a girl committed suicide after a breakup with her boyfriend.
