The Experience

When I was 13, some girlfriends and I were playing with the Ouija Board. They were being all serious and I was very skeptical. I played along, thinking they would get bored soon. (Or hoping, anyway!)

Well, they tried to bring forth the spirit of a classmate who was a year older than us, who died tragically approximately a year before. He was killed by his friend with a loaded handgun. It was an accident, but I did not know the extreme details. I did not know the him, or anyone involved in the incident.

We brought something through that board. I do not know how else to say it. The indicator moved without us touching it! I thought that someone was controlling it with a fishing twine, and I said out loud.. "I do not believe this! Prove it to me!!" Some people regret the things they say in childhood... after this incident, I regretted it, but now with the advancement of adulthood..it gave me an experience I will never forget. I no longer regret my words.

The next thing I remember is looking at my friends, and they all had concerned looks on their faces. I was lying down...which was weird..because just a second before, I was sitting up, spouting off about how fake this junk was.

Then it hit me...memories.. feelings, thoughts, rushing through like I was turning a radio dial very fast.

***I remembered how I died...WHAT?!?***

The feelings were in the first person.  I remembered the dead boy's life. I still have the memories of his last 15 minutes and I'd like to share them with you. Now, remember, I did not know any details of his friends, his life, or anything...it was kept quiet, and the details were never given to us, as kids.

I would rather not use his dead boy's name, so we will call him "Bob." The child who shot him shall be called "Mike."

Bob was an only child. His mom was very protective and he was not allowed to go over Mike's house, because Mike smoked and his parents did not do anything about it. But, Mike had borrowed his Album! And he wanted it back. So, while his mom was at work, he went over to Mike's house.

Mike had a few other kids over and they were sitting outside of his house, smoking and talking about girls. Bob had asked Mike for his album, and when he came out with it, he also brought his dad's gun.

His Dad was a police officer, and was asleep upstairs. Mike had snuck into his parent's room, and opened the safe where the gun was kept...or that is what he told Bob.

Bob did not like guns. He asked for the album and said that he was going home. Mike was pointing the gun and pulling the trigger, saying that "My dad does not leave it loaded, See?" and pulled the trigger a few times. It was then that he pointed it at Bob, and pulled the trigger one last time..and the gun went off. I have never heard a gun being shot in real life, but now I know what it sounds like. It is louder and scarier than the loudest crack of lightening...and your heart skips a beat...or stops beating, as in Bob's case.

The hit was direct. Bob died instantly. I felt his shock, his crying out in the second of pain he felt before his spirit left his body.

I remember all this still. This incident happened more than 10 years ago, but I remember it as if it was yesterday.

Bob had red hair, bright blue eyes, and a wicked smile that could charm the pants off any girl. Some people see him, the ones who are sensitive..they ask why do I have a 13 year old boy following me... from house to house, state to state...I see him, every once in awhile..out of the corner of my eye...as I fall asleep at night, he is near....He's playful, fun...and I believe in him..there is no way to explain what happened to me. I am still skeptical concerning most ghosts..but my ghost is real.

He is living through me, becoming an adult, living a life he could never have...because of one fateful afternoon, with the wrong crowd, and a loaded gun.
