Tired of people stealing your graphics and your bandwidth by linking directly to your site?

Of course the first course of action is to ask them nicely to remove the link, but sometimes they just don't seem to get the message. If you have asked nicely, then you have a couple of options:

1) Remove the graphic from your site.
2) Change the name of the graphic on your site.
3) Change the name of the graphic AND replace it with one of these graphic signs (or something similar)!

Some sites have a method of blocking people from linking (like XOOM: the graphic is replaced with the XOOM emblem which is one reason I like XOOM <g>), but most don't.

In most cases, someone that has linked to your graphic(s) will be more than willing to remove the link and adhere to your terms of service/use when asked nicely (I have found that lots of folks simply don't realize that linking is wrong and the problems that it can cause). But once in a while you run into someone that could care less.

Instead of removing the graphic from your site, download one of these, rename it to the name of the graphic being linked to then upload it to your site. Next time the thief looks at their page they will be in for quite a surprize...as will everyone else that sees it!

These graphics are free for your use, but use them wisely...and DON'T LINK TO THEM!!!!!!!!!

Note: The "YUCK" graphic is one of my favorite. It is small so you don't get charged a large amount of bandwidth and it gets the message across pretty fast! Just remember to email the site first and give them a chance to remove the graphic before you add one of these.
